The Omega Men #3
Henry Flint's cover for this third chapter of the six-part 2007 DC miniseries is a genuinely unsettling piece of work — a massive, roaring alien lion-like creature dominates the image, its mismatched eyes (one glowing yellow, one bearing a Superman-style emblem) suggesting something deeply wrong beneath the surface, while dozens of spiders and strange creatures swarm across its fur and surrounding tendrils. Writer Andersen Gabrych's "Black Water" arc is clearly pushing the Omega Men into strange, visceral territory, and Flint's densely detailed, almost hallucinatory artwork makes this installment hard to look away from.
