Jonathan Hickman's sharp media satire continues with issue #2 of The Nightly News, subtitled "Chapter Two: The Voice." The cover — fully rendered by Hickman himself — puts a hard-edged, wild-haired man front and center, pistol aimed directly at the viewer against a cool grey backdrop of overlapping circles, the graphic design pulling double duty as both aesthetic and unease. With chapter themes of tape, trials, politics, drinks, and bombs promised inside, this 2006 Image series was already making clear it had something pointed to say.
