The New Warriors #20
In "The Breaking Point," the New Warriors find themselves in Japan, chasing leads on the mysterious connection between the Yakuza and the Taylor Foundation at the estate of Mariko Yashida. Sent to confront her rival Tatsu'o, the team is ambushed by his Cybersamurai, leading to a crisis that forces Thrasher to leave the team—and ultimately shatter the group's unity. Back in the States, Vance's escalating personal turmoil reaches a breaking point when his father's abuse triggers a violent outburst, resulting in Vance's arrest. Written by Fabian Nicieza and illustrated by Mark Bagley, with inks by Larry Mahlstedt and Don Hudson, and colors by Joe Rosas, this pivotal issue captures the emotional weight of youth, responsibility, and the cost of heroism. The cover by Mark Bagley and Larry Mahlstedt perfectly frames the moment of fracture.
