Among the most quietly unsettling covers of 2012, this sixth installment of Dan Abnett and I.N.J. Culbard's Vertigo series presents a servant's bell board — rooms labeled Lounge, Hall, Library, Crypt, Kitchen — where one brass bell has been pulled, and beneath it lurks a ghoulish, tattooed undead face peering out from the shadows. It's a beautifully restrained piece of visual dread, using the trappings of Edwardian domestic life to hint at something deeply wrong beneath the surface. With only two issues remaining in the eight-part series, the tension is clearly building toward its conclusion.
