The New Adventures of Superboy #48
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeLex Luthor's long-simmering rivalry with Smallville's greatest hero takes a dramatic turn in this 1983 issue, with the cover — penciled and inked by Gil Kane — capturing a triumphant, powered-up Luthor blasting a helpless Superboy through a shower of rubble while taunting him: "Now I have more power in one finger than you have in your whole body!" The tagline "Lex Luthor pulls a big switch on the (ex) Teen of Steel!" sets up the interior story, "One Super-Power Too Many!", written by Paul Kupperberg with art by Kurt Schaffenberger. It's a genuinely compelling premise rendered with Kane's kinetic energy, and the bonus Giffen Legion poster tucked inside makes this an especially satisfying package for fans of the era.
