“Infiltration”

Issue three of this six-part DC miniseries drops a masked, black-and-gold armored hero into a tense bamboo forest standoff, sword in hand and surrounded by a ring of shadowy ninja-like figures closing in from every direction. The cover by Stanley "Artgerm" Lau is striking in its atmosphere — cool greens and deep shadows creating a sense of genuine danger for the outnumbered fighter at the center. With the story titled "Infiltration," writers Trautmann and Jerwa are clearly putting their hero through the wringer, and this cover makes a strong case for reading every page.

After arriving at their headquarters, the Crusaders figure out that "General Latham" is really a Durlan. Meanwhile, the Comet teams up with the Fox as the two defeat a smuggling operation trying to bring exotic weapons into Japan. As the real General Latham is tortured by his kidnappers, his infiltration squad appears: the Hangman, Jaguar, and the Black Hood.
