Ernie Chan's cover captures the delicious standoff perfectly: a pipe-smoking Sherlock Holmes figure and the grinning, purple-suited Joker face each other at a lamp post, each snapping handcuffs onto the other's wrist with a simultaneous click, leaving the cover's own teasing caption to ask who has really trapped whom. With Denny O'Neil writing and Irv Novick on interior art, this matchup of the world's greatest detective archetype against Gotham's most chaotic criminal makes for one of the more entertainingly offbeat issues of the Joker's short-lived solo series.
