The cover by Jack Kirby (inked by Frank Giacoia) makes a bold statement for this September 1976 issue of Marvel's WWII super-team title: Union Jack dominates the foreground in his striking Union Flag costume, dagger at his hip, while Captain America, the Sub-Mariner, and the Human Torch swirl dynamically around him against a London skyline. The banner proclaiming "The Coming of Union Jack!" and the tag "From the Ashes of War — the First British Superhero Is Reborn!" set an appropriately rousing tone for Roy Thomas's wartime adventure series, now proudly going monthly.
