The Hypernaturals #4

Issue four of Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning's science-fiction superhero series from Boom! Studios delivers a genuinely unsettling cover by Francesco Mattina: a pale, white-haired figure strains furiously inside what appears to be a translucent green containment pod, while an enormous exposed brain looms ominously in the background amid twisted wreckage. The image perfectly captures the series' blend of big-concept sci-fi and visceral superhero tension, making this 2012 installment feel like the stakes are very much escalating.
