Ulysses Adams survives being infected by an alien virus that is poised to wipe out humankind. He is contacted by Delta Chi Delta, a fraternity founded to safeguard human evolution from the virus, in order to prevent the virus from spreading. They are hindered in their efforts by a former fraternity member, named Paracelsus, who wants to use the virus for his own ends.
