Marvel's real-life daredevil hero soars straight into danger on this November 1977 cover, rendered by penciler Dave Cockrum and inker Joe Sinnott — and the results are kinetic and full of energy. The Human Fly, in his striking red costume with the signature fly emblem, hurls himself through the air while a menacing mechanical bird-creature lunges at him, its jagged metal wings and clawed limbs making it a genuinely unsettling opponent. The cover copy promises he's going it "alone — against the mechanized monsters of a madman," becoming a one-man assault force to storm a fortress of fear, which sets the stage beautifully for the interior story, "Castle In the Clouds.
