The Green Lantern Corps #223

A sense of desperate urgency leaps off this 1988 cover by Gil Kane, as a white-haired figure in red confronts a crowd of Green Lanterns amid smoke, flames, and a crumbling giant GL symbol — warning them, "You fools! By killing Sinestro — you've forever doomed the Corps!" The assembled Lanterns, human and alien alike, are caught in what looks like the aftermath of something irreversible, with fire licking the edges of their shattered emblem. Steve Englehart and Gil Kane close out this volume with a title — "The Last Testament of the Green Lantern Corps!" — that promises the stakes have never felt higher.
