The Green Hornet #17
In "Showdown at Midnight," the Green Hornet and Kato face off against Pistol Jim Watkins, a self-proclaimed gunslinger with a flair for the dramatic, after he interrupts their bust at an electronics store. With a clever ruse and a staged showdown, the Hornet turns Watkins' fantasy against him—only to be left stunned when a mysterious, costumed woman from Sister-hood takes down Watkins’ hidden sniper. Written by Ron Fortier and illustrated by Patrick Zircher, with inks by David Mowry, colors by Suzanne Dechnik and Holly Sanfelippo, and letters by Andrea Albert, this 1993 issue features a cover by Zircher and Mowry that captures the tension of the moment.

The Green Hornet and Kato interrupt thieves raiding an electronics store, but are themselves interrupted by a man dressed as a cowboy and expertly wielding two Western-style six-guns, and they are forced to flee. They heard an associate call him Watkins, however, which allows them to identify him as Pistol Jim Watkins, a man with a fantasy of being a "gunslinger" which the Hornet plays to. Word is put out on the street that the Hornet will meet him in a man-to-man showdown, place and time included. Watkins is faced and defeated, but the masked men are surprised that he hadn't "staked out some...added insurance." In fact, he had, but that sniper was taken out by a strangely costumed woman, Sister 5 of...Sister-hood!
