The Goon #44
This delightfully unhinged issue of The Goon dresses itself up as a lucha-libre exploitation broadsheet, with a massive, one-eyed lizard creature — the returning Hombre Lagarto — lunging front and center, claws outstretched, jagged teeth bared, flanked by two fighting roosters mid-clash. Eric Powell, handling every creative role himself, rounds out the cover with a reclining figure in the lower corner and bold Spanish-language proclamations promising monster brawls and devil cockfights. It's a wonderfully committed genre parody that packs more personality into a single cover than most series manage in a full arc.
