“The Golden Age, Book One of Four”

In "The Golden Age, Book One of Four," writer James Robinson and artist Paul Martin Smith launch a bold reimagining of the post-war superhero landscape, where the legacy of costumed heroes is both a burden and a weapon. As Tex Thompson returns from Europe to shape a new era of heroism, he searches for a worthy successor—turning to the enigmatic former Dan the Dyna-Mite—while Paul Kirk, haunted by visions from his past, finds himself caught in a web he never intended to weave. The cover by Paul Smith captures the era’s tension with a stark, evocative portrait of a man at a crossroads.

After the war, as most costumed heroes settle into private lives, Tex Thompson returns from Europe to begin a political career and makes plans to create a super-hero to defend against the Soviet threat. After Al Pratt is deemed unsuitable, Thompson seeks out the former Dan the Dyna-Mite for the job. Meanwhile, Paul Kirk returns from Europe haunted by his dreams, and is now the man being hunted.
