Written and illustrated by Junichi Fujisaku, it follows Section 9 as they investigate a new series of cyberbrain crimes linked to a mysterious algorithm. Collects the second half of the Human Algorithm arc, originally serialized in Kodansha's Monthly Young Magazine.
In "Message," Batou follows a dangerous lead from the Yakuza into the depths of a submerged wreck, chasing a cargo that might be worth more than its weight in secrets. Meanwhile, Togusa, Tsunagi, and Azuma uncover a hidden lab tied to their past—where Azuma and the mysterious White Bear were created—unearthing truths that blur the line between memory and identity. Written by Junichi Fujisaku and Stephen Kohler, with art and inks by Yuki Yoshimoto and lettering by Paige Pumphrey, this issue’s cover by Yoshimoto captures the tension of a world where the past is never truly buried.
In "Message," Togusa and Azuma narrowly evade a relentless assault team, aided by the elusive Saito, while Tsunagi is taken by the enigmatic The White Bear. There, she experiences a haunting psychic encounter with the lingering presence of Major Kusinagi—her past, her choices, and the weight of her identity all converge in a moment that blurs memory and reality.
In "Puppet," Batou uncovers a chilling conspiracy where hacked prosthetic bodies—marked by a unique bar code—are being weaponized in a shadow war for dominance over Japan's underworld. With help from Togusa, Tsunagi, Azuma, and Saito, and under the watchful eye of Officiate Wakai, they race to trace the digital puppet master before the next body is activated.
In "Deep Psyche," the mystery of Tsunagi’s past deepens as she recalls fragmented memories from her time in a secretive lab, while Chief Aramaki probes the origins of her existence. Meanwhile, Batou ventures into a submerged base, uncovering a hidden facility manned by cyborgs and a massive, dormant robot tank.
In "Booby Trap," Batou uncovers a trail linking a mysterious undersea installation to a powerful Yakuza figure, sending ripples through the team’s investigation. With Togusa and Saito strategizing a move against the elusive threat known as The White Bear, tensions rise as Maj. Motoko Kusinagi and her squad race to unravel a web of deception beneath the waves.
