Politics come to Bedrock in this January 2017 issue, as the cover — penciled and inked by Lee Weeks — shows Fred Flintstone front and center in a patriotic top hat, arm raised triumphantly while Wilma cheers beside him, with Betty and Barney waving "Vote" signs and "Bedrock" pennants before an enthusiastic crowd. The stone-carved "Bedrock the Vote" title treatment perfectly captures the prehistoric civic-engagement energy at the heart of this "Election Day" story. With Mark Russell writing and Steve Pugh on art, this series has been finding sharp, warm humor in the gap between Stone Age life and modern society — and a Bedrock election sounds like exactly the right arena for it.
