“Star-Crossed”

Fred Flintstone is clearly in over his head on this cover — dressed in a star-spangled showbiz hat and looking thoroughly flustered, he's caught between an angry prehistoric leading lady and an exasperated director hollering "CUT! WRONG AGAIN!" through his megaphone. The cover tagline "Fred Flintstone… Stand-In to the Stars!" sets up a wonderfully chaotic Hollywood premise, brought to life with energetic linework by cover penciler Scott Jeralds and inker Scott Awley. This January 1997 Archie Comics entry in the Cartoon Network Presents line looks like a genuinely fun showcase for Fred's talent for stumbling headfirst into spectacular trouble.
