The Fix #10

Nick Spencer and Steve Lieber's crime series delivers a wryly composed tenth issue, its cover presenting two figures seen from behind as they contemplate an elaborate, gallery-framed portrait of a bald man rendered in swirling, mosaic-like layers of currency and repeated text. The painting-within-a-cover conceit gives the whole thing the feel of two crooks sizing up a very expensive problem, perfectly in keeping with the series' crooked sensibility. Ryan Hill's rich, warm palette makes the portrait glow against the clean white background, turning what could be a simple image into something genuinely eye-catching.
