Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips bring their noir Hollywood thriller to its penultimate chapter with this striking Sean Phillips cover, where a smiling, green-eyed brunette in cat-eye glasses holds a cigarette with an almost unsettling confidence — all while deep crimson drips ominously down the white space beside her. That tension between charm and dread is pure Fade Out, and Elizabeth Breitweiser's colors give the image a painted, Golden Age glamour that feels perfectly at home in late-1940s Tinseltown. "Where Angels Fear to Tread" promises the series is heading somewhere dark indeed.
