The End Times of Bram and Ben #1

The cover of this first issue in the four-part Image series captures the delightful chaos perfectly: a halo-sporting blonde guy in a green jacket tumbles through the air alongside a dark-suited companion, caught between a pastel heaven full of cheerful birds and flowers on one side and a writhing, monstrous tentacled nightmare on the other. Jim Mahfood's linework gives the whole scene a wonderfully kinetic, slightly unhinged energy that sets the apocalyptic-comedy tone right away. From the creative team of James Asmus, Jim Festante, and Rem Broo, this 2013 opener promises a irreverent take on the end of the world that clearly isn't taking itself too seriously — and that's very much the point.
