About this Collection

This Library Edition collects the complete nine-issue run of The End League, a Dark Horse series from 2017 that reimagines a world where superheroes have lost their powers and must navigate a post-apocalyptic landscape. Written by Rick Remender with art by Mat Broome, the story follows a group of former heroes as they struggle for survival and meaning in a society that has turned against them.

In this pivotal issue of The End League, Astonishman's desperate act to destroy an alien vessel triggers a catastrophic chain reaction, unleashing a wave of mutations that turn billions into the so-called magnificents—many of whom now serve only themselves. With the world in ruins and the magnificents turning to villainy, Astonishman seeks out the few who still believe in redemption, hoping to find Thor’s hammer, the only weapon capable of restoring balance. Written by Rick Remender and brought to life by Mat Broome’s striking interior art, with Sean Parsons’ inks, Wendy Broome’s colors, and Rus Wooton’s sharp lettering, the issue’s cover by Eric Canete captures the scale of the devastation.

Astonishman destroys an alien vessel, causing a warhead detonation that causes a chain reaction in the alien vessel's engines. The result is the death of billions and the mutation of the many of those left into magnificents. Most of the magnificents became self-serving and thus villains. Astonishman gathered the more altruistic together in hopes of finding Thor's hammer, the only weapon powerful enough to help reclaim the world.
