“Mandred the Executioner”

The Doom Patrol returns from the dead — but their survival is immediately threatened by Mandred the Executioner, a towering, horned blue beast whose massive form dominates this February 1967 cover, penciled and inked by Bruno Premiani. Two red-costumed Doom Patrol members clash with each other in the foreground while a distressed woman pleads for them to stop — all as Mandred looms ominously behind them, ready to exploit their infighting. It's a wonderfully tense setup that promises internal conflict and monstrous danger in equal measure.
