Believing that Cliff and Larry tricked Rita into calling off the wedding, Mento challenges them, and during the fight Rita is inadvertently blinded. When the Chief restores her sight, the Doom Patrol goes after Mento. However, when the Brotherhood of Evil strikes, it is revealed that it was Madame Rouge masquerading as Mento who attacked originally and blinded Rita. Rita begs Steve for his forgiveness and agrees to marry him. They marry later that day with the Doom Patrol and other superheroes in attendance.
