Snow falls on a blood-soaked figure standing alone in the dark — fur-trimmed coat stained red, an axe in one hand and a mask dangling from the other — making for one of the most unsettling "Christmas story" covers Image has put out in 2025. James Tynion IV and Joshua Hixson have been crafting something genuinely chilling with The Deviant, and this ninth issue promises the tension hasn't let up one bit. Hixson's atmospheric cover work, rendered in cold greens and deep shadows, does exactly what a great horror image should: it leaves you dreading — and eager for — what's inside.
