Etrigan the Demon charges forward in his red-and-yellow costume, fists clenched, as a purple-masked, top-hatted villain levels a gleaming sword at him and hisses, "Closer… just come a little closer!" — a trap clearly set amid a crowd of cloaked and armored figures lurking in the shadows. Jack Kirby and Mike Royer bring their distinctive energy to this 1973 issue, framing the "Phantom of the Sewers" as a sinister showdown rich with menace and theatricality. It's a wonderfully moody setup that captures everything Kirby's supernatural series does so well.
