“The Wild One”

John McCrea's cover for issue #40 puts Etrigan front and center in a furious tangle — the red-skinned, spiked-gauntleted Demon grappling ferociously with a golden, fang-baring adversary, both figures wrapped in a swirl of blue cape and raw aggression. The fiery masthead and that wide, unsettling grin from the golden figure set a tone that's equal parts savage and darkly playful, perfectly in keeping with the world Garth Ennis was building on this title in 1993. "The Wild One" promises exactly what the cover delivers — a collision of infernal energies that's hard to look away from.
