The penultimate chapter of Matt Wagner and Art Nichols' four-part Demon miniseries arrives with a genuinely unsettling cover: Etrigan crouches within a glowing circular seal inscribed with occult runes and the names Yarva, Demonicus, and Etrigan himself, surrounded by dripping candles and what appears to be a ritual in grim progress, red flame curling from the demon's mouth. The composition — a mystic circle framing a brooding, purple-robed figure against a blood-red backdrop — perfectly captures the dark sorcerous atmosphere Wagner and Nichols brought to this 1987 series.
