Matt Wagner and Art Nichols kick off this four-issue DC miniseries with a cover that frames Etrigan the Demon mid-lunge — red-and-yellow costume blazing, clawed fists raised — within a circular border ringed with arcane script bearing names like Yarva, Demonicus, and Etrigan himself. The shadowy background, scattered bats, and crumbling stonework give the whole image a wonderfully gothic atmosphere that feels right at home in January 1987.
