The Cross Bronx #2
The second chapter of Image's 2006 crime series The Cross Bronx brings the gritty urban atmosphere of the Bronx to vivid life, courtesy of writer-artist Michael Avon Oeming and co-writer Iván Brandon. The cover — penciled and inked by Oeming — pulls the eye immediately to a blue-toned figure in the foreground clutching a gun and wearing a cross, while a massive vehicle crashes through glass high above the city skyline behind them. It's a striking composition that captures the series' collision of street-level tension and larger-than-life chaos, and Joe Quesada's blurb calling it "hands-down the best thing Oeming has ever done" only adds to the anticipation.
