The Clone Conspiracy #2

The second chapter of Marvel's 2017 "Dead No More" event finds Spider-Man in serious trouble on this Gabriele Dell'Otto cover, where the wall-crawler is engulfed and seemingly overpowered by a tangle of massive mechanical tentacles — unmistakably Doctor Octopus's arms — crackling with electric energy against a cold, rain-drenched blue backdrop. The composition does a great job of conveying Spider-Man's vulnerability, his iconic red-and-blue suit partially shadowed as the arms coil and close in from every direction. Dan Slott, Jim Cheung, John Dell, and Justin Ponsor bring their considerable talents to the interior, making this a compelling installment in one of Spider-Man's most ambitious modern storylines.
