Garth Ennis and artist Carlos Ezquerra bring "The Self-Preservation Society" to its conclusion in this 2009 Dynamite installment of The Boys. Darick Robertson's cover makes an immediate, unsettling statement: a massively built superhero in a red cape bearing a swastika stands arms crossed and stone-faced, surveying a city skyline consumed by fire and billowing smoke behind him. It's a deliberately provocative image that captures exactly the kind of corrupt, dangerous super-powered world Ennis has spent this series unflinchingly holding up to the light.
