“The Adventure of the Darkened Lighthouse”

In "The Adventure of the Darkened Lighthouse," Kelly, Whacky, and the crew of a downed American bomber find themselves trapped by Burmese natives, with Kelly holding the mysterious white goddess Manta captive to keep the chief from launching an attack. When a rocket-powered plane offers a chance to reach Allied forces, the trio makes a daring escape, racing back to the village to rescue their comrades from Japanese troops—only for Manta to disappear in the chaos. Written by Robert Kanigher and illustrated by Ted Small, this 1944 Fox adventure blends wartime tension with pulp intrigue, all captured in a striking cover by E. C. Stoner.
