The Anchor #2

This second issue of BOOM! Studios' The Anchor arrives with a visceral cover by Brian Churilla that wastes no time signaling the tone — a massive, battle-worn figure dominates the frame, his pale-haired, muscular form streaked with blood against a stark crimson background, gripping what appears to be a heavy chain. The sheer physical presence of the character, wrapped bandaging and all, makes a compelling case for a series built around brutal, larger-than-life confrontation. Phil Hester and Brian Churilla's 2009 collaboration continues with "Five Furies Part Two: Bark and Hide, Bone and Root" — a subtitle that hints at something primal and elemental lurking just beneath the surface.
