Studios launched this series in 2009 with a cover that wastes no time establishing its tone: a massive, scarred brawler charges forward, bloody fists clenched, while two enormous demonic creatures loom out of the darkness behind him — their glowing eyes and bared fangs framing a cloaked figure surrounded by candlelight and an open tome. Brian Churilla's linework brings a wonderfully gritty energy to the supernatural clash of faith and brute force on display here. With Phil Hester scripting the opening chapter of "Five Furies," The Anchor #1 is a compelling first look at a series that clearly isn't afraid to go big.
