Mary Jane declines Peter's marriage proposal and has to go to Pittsburgh where she finds her sister in jail. Spider-Man is attacked by Smythe who has vastly improved his father's Spider-Slayer robot. Mary Jane asks Peter to come help her out and he has to decide between being there for the woman he loves or taking down a supervillain. Peter heads to Pittsburgh but Smythe finds out and follows him.
