The All New Atom #12

The tiny hero of Ivy Town looks awfully vulnerable on José Ladrönn's cover, where Ryan Choi — suited up in the Atom's blue-and-red costume — stands at floor level, completely surrounded by the massive feet and legs of towering figures closing in from every direction. It's a wonderfully vertiginous image that captures the series' signature sense of scale, and the tagline "Feats of Strength!" promises Gail Simone, Mike Norton, and Dan Green have something ambitious in store. Part one of "Hunt for Ray Palmer" kicks off here, making this a fine moment to check in on DC's most scientifically adventurous title of 2007.
