The Adventures of the Thing #4

The final chapter of this 1992 Marvel limited series closes out with a cover that puts Ben Grimm right in the thick of it — the ever-lovin' blue-eyed Thing braces himself against a massive, dark, red-eyed swamp creature looming over him in a murky, vegetation-choked environment, water and debris flying in every direction. Gary Barker's pencils and Mark Farmer's inks give the confrontation a raw, kinetic energy that makes it easy to see why "Only the Swamp Survives" was chosen as the story title. With Tom DeFalco writing and Ron Wilson on interior art, this four-issue run wraps up on a genuinely satisfying visual punch.
