The Adventures of Rex the Wonder Dog #6
In "Ghost Fighter," DC's beloved canine hero Rex the Wonder Dog proves his worth in a tense Korean frontline mission, where his handler assigns him to watch over inexperienced green soldiers. As the young troops dismiss him as a nuisance, Rex moves ahead in eerie silence—disabling traps, drawing enemy fire, and revealing a hidden tank—leaving the squad baffled by the sudden chaos, though his handler sees the truth in every move. Written by Robert Kanigher and brought to life with sharp, dynamic art by Gil Kane (pencils) and Sy Barry (inks), this 1952 issue features a cover by Gil Kane and Sy Barry that captures Rex’s stealthy intensity.

Fighting in Korea, Rex is assigned by his handler to watch over green soldiers going up against seasoned enemies. When the raw recruits brush off Rex as a pest, he "ghosts" ahead of the squad. He yanks tripwires, forces sentries and snipers to shoot, and exposes a tank. The squad thinks the enemy was careless, and Rex useless, but his handler knows otherwise.
