“The Floating Big Top!”

In "The Floating Big Top!", Danny and Rex join Professor Barrett on a journey to witness a solar eclipse in eastern Tennessee, where wary locals warn of the haunted Big Spooky Mountain. After Rex earns their trust by rescuing a child from a runaway carriage, the duo ascends—only to face a lynx in the dark and a ghostly ambush by three Civil War-era convicts hiding in a forgotten stash. Written by John Broome and illustrated with dynamic precision by Gil Kane, with inks by Bernard Sachs and lettering by Gaspar Saladino, this 1954 adventure blends rural mystery and suspense, all wrapped in a striking cover by Gil Kane and Bernard Sachs.

In eastern Tennessee, Danny and Rex accompany Professor Barrett (last seen in "Valley of the Thunder King"). He plans to view a total eclipse of the sun. The local "hillbillies" won't guide them up Big Spooky Mountain, claiming it's haunted, until Rex saves a child from a runaway carriage. Up on the mountain, by night, Rex battles a lynx while the Professor is nabbed by ghosts of Civil War soldiers! Rex bowls them over - three convicts hiding out who found a Civil War stash.
