The Adventures of Jerry Lewis #51

A ten-cent gem from DC's 1959 comedy lineup, this issue finds Jerry Lewis grinning at the wheel of a small motorboat — apparently unaware (or delightfully unconcerned) that the vessel is perched atop a surfacing submarine numbered 571. A wide-eyed redhead in a purple dress and a scowling naval captain round out the trio, while Jerry's speech bubble cheerfully asks, "Did you ever get the feeling you were floating on air?!" Bob Oksner's crisp, expressive linework captures the slapstick chaos perfectly, making this a thoroughly entertaining snapshot of DC's lighter side in the late 1950s.
