About this Collection

This hardcover volume collects the earliest Silver Age adventures of Adam Strange, the Earth archaeologist who gains superhuman abilities after being teleported to the planet Rann via the Zeta Beam. Featuring stories from the late 1950s and early 1960s, the book showcases the creative team of writer Gardner Fox and artist Mike Sekowsky, establishing the cosmic hero's relationship with Alanna and her father Sardath. It reprints material from Showcase #17-19, Mystery in Space #53-65, and the first Adam Strange story from 1958.

In "Secret of the Eternal City," Adam Strange returns to Rann to find the planet on the brink, its people facing an alien threat that turns armies to gas with vacuumizers. With only nine days to devise a strategy, Adam uncovers a crucial flaw in the invaders' technology—its ability to affect only one element at a time—leading to a clever, metal-clad counterattack. Written by Gardner Fox and illustrated by Carmine Infantino, with inks by Murphy Anderson and colors by Jamison, this issue features a striking cover by Gil Kane and Bernard Sachs.
