The issue contains two stories. "Assignment Danger," the cover story, follows a ranger who tracked an outlaw into Apache territory only to find himself at the mercy of the Apaches. "Fugitive" depicts Barney Rabuta's escape from custody; outlaw Pete Ash discovers Rabuta didn't know the hills and spreads word he's searching for him, planning to ambush him during his six-hour head start to the hills. In the main story, the Rangers discover that Sam Conners is Turki's brother and has been buying Henry rifles from Connecticut; they follow the outlaw's trail into Apache country, where Clem Frost and Ugasha confront the rifle runner, with Ugasha remembering his friendship with Frost's father and ultimately refusing to help the criminals.
