Terry and the Pirates #5
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeThis volume collects the fifth story arc of the classic newspaper strip, following Terry Lee and Pat Ryan as they are shanghaied aboard a ship captained by the villainous Judas. The adventure pits them against Tony Sandhurst and the treacherous Burma, while Connie, Normandie Drake, and the mute strongman Big Stoop play key roles in the unfolding drama. Originally serialized in the late 1930s, this NBM edition preserves Milton Caniff's iconic artwork and storytelling from the series' early years.
The issue contains two stories. The first involves a conflict between a company doctor and workers over employment conditions, with threatening figures demanding the doctor's reinstatement and warning of hospital liability if he is not rehired, while a character notes that during winter with heavy snow, the trained doctor "must stay." The second story follows a man named Mr. Blumm who receives a hat as a birthday present and gives it away, only to have it cause confusion and distress when others, including Mr. Giuseppe and young J. Marquis Bumm, become obsessed with locating and retrieving it, leading to a chaotic search through the city involving junk shops and street characters.
