A grinning, horned villain in purple and green dominates this Art Nouveau-framed cover, coolly fanning a hand of face-down cards while an extraordinary assembly of Marvel's finest — the Hulk, Silver Surfer, Doctor Strange, Namor, Thor, Captain America, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, Vision, and the Wasp — swirls around him in dynamic action poses. The ornate gold border gives the whole composition the feel of a mystical tarot card itself, perfectly fitting the series' theme of fate and arcane power. Paul Renaud's artwork, colored by Paul Mounts, makes this second issue of Alan Davis's Avengers/Defenders crossover feel both grand in scope and elegantly crafted.
