Tales of the Unexpected #45

From DC's anthology series comes this January 1960 issue of Tales of the Unexpected, featuring a new Space Ranger adventure. The cover by Dick Dillin and Sheldon Moldoff centers on a massive winged creature — a Jovian Carrier Monster, as the cover copy explains — bearing a platform of specially trained interplanetary beasts on its back, while a determined man with a ray gun and a striking blonde woman look on in the foreground. It's a wonderfully imaginative slice of late-'50s science-fantasy, and the interior story "The Sheriff from Jupiter," with art by Nick Cardy, promises the same sense of cosmic adventure.
