In a dark and medieval future, Christian Estacado, bearer of the power of the Darkness, is ready to become prince of the realm when one of his subjects brings a mysterious figure before him. She is the Angelus, descendant of his ancient enemy, but rather than battle him, this Angelus falls in love with him instead. Falling to the curse of the Darkness, love kills Christian Estacado. The Angelus rides away bearing Christian's child who is destined to one day take up the mantle of the Darkness.
