“The Trophy!”

In "The Trophy!", a chilling tale from Tales from the Crypt #25 (1951), the macabre world of a wax museum becomes a stage for vengeance, as the line between art and horror blurs. Written by Al Feldstein and brought to life with haunting detail by artist Graham Ingels—whose inks define the story’s grim atmosphere—this issue explores the dark consequences of obsession and cruelty. The cover, a striking collaboration by Feldstein in both pencils and inks, perfectly captures the story’s eerie tone.

Henri and Marie are the owners of a wax museum, and Marie claims that the wax figures in the chamber of horrors tell her that they are being tortured, so she averts their eyes from their victims and lowers their weapons. This infuriates Henri who threatens his wife with death should she touch the statutes again. When he discovers Marie has altered the chamber of horrors to a scene more resembling a joyful party, he strangles Marie. The wax figures get revenge and turn Henri into a large candle for Marie's funeral display.
