The bold tagline "Slain by Stayне!" sets a dramatic tone for this fifth issue of DC's 1996 series, and the cover by Aaron Lopresti (pencils) and Gary Martin (inks) delivers on that promise visually — a glowing, gold-energy figure grapples intensely with a struggling older man, while a massive, menacing shadowed face looms large in the background. The contrast between that luminous hero and the dark, foreboding presence overhead gives the composition a real sense of high-stakes confrontation. With Paul Kupperberg writing and Aaron Lopresti on interior art, Takion was clearly swinging for the fences in its first year.
