The issue features a story in which Taffy and her father Pop become entangled in a scheme involving a fox. When Pop discovers he has become fond of a nag horse and is reluctant to part with it, blackmail ensues, with someone demanding money in exchange for keeping Taffy's pet fox. The story escalates as the characters attempt to resolve the situation, eventually leading them to a summer camp where Taffy and other girls are subjected to rescue tests, including a swimming challenge in which one girl falls from a paddle boat, resulting in comedic chaos as Taffy attempts to rescue her.

You Can't Beat Briney!
6 pp · Humor, Teen

When Briney tags along to the movies with Putty Putnam and ruins a perfectly good Western, Putty finds himself volunteered by a friend to participate in a hypnotist's act on stage—with unexpected (and hilarious) results. As Putty discovers the hard way, you just can't outsmart Briney, no matter how clever your plan for payback might be.

How to Lose Friends!
2 pp · Humor

When Mitzi monopolizes the radio, commandeers a table at a restaurant, and generally bulldozes through her day with reckless abandon, her friend Joe finds himself the hapless target of her obnoxious behavior—and the collateral damage keeps piling up. A two-page comedy that proves sometimes the quickest way to lose a friend is to treat them like they're invisible.

A Careless Young Girl

Patsy dodges her arithmetic homework by claiming she was sick, then hopes to impress Willie, the boy she likes best, with her appearance—but his blunt assessment of her looks proves she's been careless in more ways than one. A quick two-page lesson in why a little effort goes a long way.
